Mission & Purpose

SASS (Sexual Assault Survivor Services) is a department that provides advocacy and counseling grounded in a trauma-informed and survivor-centered approach. We know you are more than what happened to you. We recognize that trauma can affect emotional well-being, relationships, academics, and daily functioning in many different ways.

We believe that supporting survivors and preventing sexual violence are inseparable responsibilities. In partnership with campus offices, student organizations, faculty, and community members, we work to build a university culture rooted in respect, consent, and mutual accountability.

Through education and outreach, we equip the BYU community with the awareness and tools to recognize, interrupt, and respond to sexual misconduct — because safety is a shared obligation.
